Destiny 2: Xur Breakdown for October 6-8

Destiny 2: Xur Breakdown for October 6-8

It’s the weekend, which means that Xur has returned for Destiny 2 players to spend their Legendary Shards on exotic items. Read on for Game Rant’s post detailing Xur’s location, which exotic armor and weapons he has for sale, and whether or not any of those items are worth buying.

This week, Destiny 2 players can find Xur on planet Earth, in the European Dead Zone. Specifically, Xur is up on a ridge in the Winding Cove area. If for any reason you might be having trouble finding him, just look up.

Xur’s Exotic Armor

Xur’s exotic armor selection this week includes the Foetracer Helmet for Hunters, the Insurmountable Skullfort Helmet for Titans, and the Nezarec’s Sin helmet for Warlocks.

The Hunter helmet is the first duplicate exotic armor piece of Destiny 2 thus far, but our recommendation still stands. With the ability to track enemies in PvP, and do extra damage as enemies weaken in any mode, this helmet is a must have for Hunters. So, if you didn’t have enough Legendary Shards the first time, or you spent them all on the Wardcliff Coil rocket launcher – here is a second chance.

The Titan helmet is equally useful and can make for a top tier choice on the right build. With the helmet equipped, players can recharge their melee energy anytime they get a kill with an arc melee charge. So, essentially, getting a kill with an arc melee kill never wastes the charge. This perk, combined with the ability to regenerate health and instantly reload an equipped weapon, make Insurmountable Skullfort a real fun exotic to use. Shoot enemies, melee kill, and then shoot again.

Nezarec’s Sin is probably the weakest of the three items, but is still a solid exotic for Warlocks. With it on, players can generate ability energy any time they get a void kill. Similar to the Insurmountable Skullfort this can lead to some looping of abilities, but it’s a little less reliable.

Exotic Weapon

The Vigilance Wing pulse rifle is Xur’s exotic weapon for the weekend, a decent choice for players that enjoy Trials of the Nine. We say that because most of the weapon’s perks deal with buffing a player when they lose teammates. One perk makes it so the weapon preforms better when the wielder is the last member of their fireteam, and the other increases health regeneration and movement speed when a teammate dies nearby.

Since there are very few scenarios that meet those criteria, the pulse rifle is mostly suited to modes where players lose teammates and they can’t respawn right away. Countdown, Survival, and Trials of the Nine are currently the best modes for the gun, then, but it still isn’t the best in class. That may change if Bungie ever buffs pulse rifles, but currently there are far better weapons to use in Trials of the Nine.

For a full rundown of Xur’s items and prices see the list below:

  • Insurmountable Skullfort (Titan Helmet) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Foetracer (Hunter Helmet) – 23 Legendary Shards
