Ever since The Frozen Wilds was announced at E3 2017, Horizon: Zero Dawn fans have been eagerly counting down the days until the DLC pack drops in November. While the expansion is shaping up to be an impressive addition to the massively-popular open world title, fans may be slightly disappointed to know that this will be the only DLC for the game.
In response to a fan tweet asking if The Frozen Wilds will be the first of a series of DLC packs for Horizon: Zero Dawn, Guerrilla Games confirms that the forthcoming expansion pack will be the only DLC to be released for the game. While this news will come as a bit of a surprise to fans, the recent announcement of the forthcoming Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition suggested that the studio had planned for The Frozen Wilds to be the only expansion pack for some time now.
This will be the only expansion for Horizon Zero Dawn.

While the studio is undoubtedly busy finishing up work on The Frozen Wilds and all related Horizon: Zero Dawn content that’s scheduled to drop in the upcoming weeks, it is likely that Guerrilla Games is already starting early work on its next project – presumably a sequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn. Sony has yet to officially confirm a follow-up title, but given how wildly successful the original game was for the company, it is practically a given that a green-light will be nothing more than a formality for Sony’s massively-popular new franchise.
While news of The Frozen Wilds being the only DLC pack for Horizon: Zero Dawn will be somewhat disappointing for fans, it certainly appears that Guerrilla Games is wrapping up support for the title in the best way possible, as the expansion is shaping up to be a sizable addition to the base game. Should this be the final adventure for Aloy for the time being, the red-headed warrior is certainly going out with a bang rather than a whimper.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is available now for PlayStation 4, and The Frozen Wilds DLC releases on November 7, 2017.
