Destiny 2 Glitch Gives Rocket Launcher Infinite Ammo

Destiny 2 Glitch Gives Rocket Launcher Infinite Ammo

Destiny 2 players on PC have discovered a glitch that, while not particularly game-breaking, could wreak a little havoc on the status quo. While active, the glitch gives players infinite ammo with the exotic rocket launcher Wardcliff Coil.

To earn infinite ammo, players need to set their crouch to ‘Toggle’ in the settings and they must have a Titan present. With the Wardcliff Coil equipped, the Titan then puts down their Rally Barricade, spams the crouch button, and fires rockets at the same time. As the player is firing they will see their ammo count increase, even though they are using rockets.

It’s not completely clear how or why this Destiny 2 glitch works, but it seems to interpret the mini rockets of the Wardcliff Coil as individual ammo “rounds,” even though the pack counts as one shot. By our estimation, it seems the Rally Barricade’s perk, which instantly reloads a weapon whenever the player crouches and stands back up, is reloading ammo based on each mini rocket and not the full pack. So, mid-rocket barrage, the game is telling the counter to add ammo instead of reload and deduct.

This isn’t the first time that the Wardcliff Coil has been used for a Destiny 2 glitch, but, depending on its uses, this glitch could be more game breaking, at least in PvE. For PvE, players will be able to run into boss fights and raid encounters with an inordinate amount of Wardcliff Coil shots. Enemies that typically take a lot of damage to kill will be reduced to dust in a matter of seconds.

The only good thing is that the other Wardcliff Coil glitch, which lets you swap a single shot of rocket ammo for almost a full clip of a different Power Weapon’s ammo, does not apply here. Players will have to use the Wardcliff Coil, and the rocket launcher is only useful at close range. This means that fighting a raid boss like Calus won’t be made that much easier with the glitch, although other encounters will certainly be exploited.

No doubt Bungie will work quickly to fix the glitch/exploit, but it’s unclear how much of a priority it will be. It’s hard to imagine it posing too much of a problem in PvP, and PvE glitches tend to get neglected. In fact, there are plenty of glitches that players would like to see fixed before removing this exploit, like the numerous bugs that plague the Leviathan Raid. Still, it’s important to get the word out on this glitch now so that Bungie is aware and more likely to take action sooner rather than later.

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One
