Destiny 2 Comic to Explore Osiris, Ikora's Origin Story

Destiny 2 Comic to Explore Osiris, Ikora's Origin Story

Bungie announced today that the story of Destiny 2‘s infamous Warlock, Osiris, is only beginning with the recently released Curse of Osiris expansion. The studio plans to release a comic book titled Fall of Osiris which focuses on the relationship between Osiris and Ikora and the events that led to Osiris’s exile. Expect more news regarding Fall of Osiris before too long, as Bungie will be releasing the Destiny 2 comic for free sometime “soon.”

Fall of Osiris will be written as part of a collaboration between Curse of Osiris narrative lead Christine Thompson and Eisner-winning writer Ryan North, best known for Dinosaur Comics and his work on The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. Interior art will be done by Ze Carlos, best known for winning a Bungie community t-shirt design contest and creating the art for Destiny: The Official Coloring Book.

Also released was the cover of Fall of Osiris‘s first issue, done by Marcio Takara. Takara’s cover depicts a stern looking and seemingly younger Osiris along with his Ghost, Sagira. The comic’s numbering implies Bungie has multiple comics planned, but it’s unclear whether the story of Fall of Osiris will cross multiple issues or just one. Perhaps Bungie is planning a complementary comic to go alongside each of its forthcoming expansions.

Destiny 2 Comic Explores Osiris and Ikora's Origin Story - Cover

According to Bungie, Fall of Osiris will delve into Osiris and his student Ikora’s “origin story.” Without spoiling any of the Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris story, it’s well known that Osiris was exiled from the Vanguard long ago and is commonly reviled amongst modern Guardians. Osiris was once the Vanguard Commander but is said to have been driven mad in his pursuit of knowledge regarding the nature of the Darkness.

The events of the Fall of Osiris comic could provide valuable insight into the events that led to Osiris’s exile, as well as Ikora’s role in it. Perhaps Osiris’s madness was exaggerated. Perhaps Osiris’s fear of the Darkness was well warranted. Perhaps Ikora knew more about Osiris’s endeavors then she has so far admitted.  “How did Osiris go from hero to traitor?” Expect to find out soon.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The Curse of Osiris expansion launched last week across all platforms.
